Description: ***********The AS 1916 automatic movement runs about 2 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period. While the day wheel rolls over the date wheel does not. Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.***********This vintage 1970 Caravelle came from the estate of its original owner. The blue "T SWISS T" signed dial is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows age-related wear and the lume, which no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "CARAVELLE - SHOCK RESISTANT - STAINLESS STEEL - AUTOMATIC - ANTI MAGNETIC - WATER RESISTANT" with "N0" stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped "MXF" followed by "823,""CARAVELLE WATCH DIVISION,""BULOVA WATCH Co" and "SWISS." The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "CARAVELLE WATCH,""11 UKACB" and "N2"stamped AS 1916 automatic movement runs strong, albeit a bit slow, and the day wheel rolls over as it should. However, the date wheel, which should roll over by pressing in on the crown, does not. This movement does not have a quickset day function. After recently winding the original, signed non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement lost about 2 minutes by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period. The crown winds buttery smooth. Given that the date wheel does not roll over and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. This watch comes on a vintage stretch bracelet showing moderate wear. A complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 16 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping will be provided. Thanks for looking!***********The AS 1916 automatic movement runs about 2 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period.
