Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a unique and popular 1950's era Atlas DS-5 model cast iron microphone stand which is a very practical design that time and comes with it's original painted cast iron base, 13 inch chrome gooseneck, cable and a Switchcraft female XLR adapter. This stand is great for any smaller, lighter XLR stick mic you have Pic # 2 shows this very model as well as several others in an old Atlas catalog. You can mount any smaller XLR mic of choice to this model stand. Simply slide you mic onto the adapter and it locks into place. This stand is ideal for smaller, less heavy XLR mics however. You could use a Shure SM-58 on this of course but an E.V RE10, RE11, RE15 or 627 model mic is more ideal as they are roughly half the weight of a Shure SM58. A Shure 545SD would be great though. A heavier XLR mic will be more likely to tip over as the gooseneck is a bit tall. I used a Shure SM63 to show you how the stand looks with a mic. The SM63 is ideal for this stand. The SM63 is not included in this sale of course. The 13 inch gooseneck is quite flexible but rigid and you can get just about any angle needed. The gooseneck looks excellent too. The Switchcraft XLR adapter attaches to the end of the Gooseneck and is secure. There is a short 2 foot cable that runs down the length of the gooseneck that exits out from the gooseneck and it has a vintage Cannon male XLR connector. Simply attach any longer XLR cable of choice to the short one provided. Cable is soft, pliable and in excellent working condition. You can see that the original grey paint on the base is in very nice condition with zero paint chips. No corrosion or discolration. The stand is appx 18 inches tall when raised completely upright X 6 inches wide. The gooseneck can be lowered if needed. The DS-5 has 3 original rubber pads on the bottom to keep it from scratching any surface it rests on. Overall I would rate this mic stand a 9 on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department.
