Description: Vintage 1950s GERMAN Carved Wood Chef Marionette Puppet Handmade Folk Art Vintage 1950s GERMAN Carved Wood Chef Marionette Puppet Handmade Folk Art Click images to enlarge Description Vintage 1950s GERMAN Carved Wood Wolfgang Gerstenberg Chef Marionette String Puppet Doll Hand Painted Folk Art So much personality flows from this little puppet made in Germany who seems to be dressed as a chef. His bright brown eyes twinkle and his mischievous expression captivates. He is made of carved wood for the head, hands & feet plus a wood chest and fabric for the rest of him around the 1940s or 50s. The artist was very adept at fashioning the features as well as hand painting them. There is no artist signature or other marks on the piece except for the label on his trousers for 'Wolfgang Gerstenberg'. It was purchased at a local online estate auction. The patina gained from years of storage features a few spots of surface soil- especially on his white garments, but he is still solid and there are no broken bits. Measurements are about 13-1/4" tall (29" including the string) width is about 5" x 2-1/4" depth. He weighs about 10 ounces. This is a simply wonderful puppet that is perfect for use, display or as an addition to a collection. Thanks for looking. Please email me if you have any questions!
