Vintage 1950s 60s Labcoat Sanforized Cotton Long Overcoat Workwear Dentist XL 42

Description: This is a labcoat or medical overcoat from the 1950s or 60s, in approximately a size 42. The coat is made of a tightly knit, undyed, sanforized cotton, which is a strange choice, and hearkens back to much older workwear, from the pre-war era. This labcoat comes from the estate of a dentist who attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, which is where this particular coat seems to come from. Underneath the color is affixed a herringbone twill label with the note 'U - P' which is likely the in-school version of a return address. The pocket also features the name of the dentist, as well another name, likely due to recycling or sharing labcoats while in school. The coat is tagged as a size 42 at the neck, and stamped with that same size on the interior of the pocket. Due to the coat being an outer layer and needing to fit over other garments, the labcoat fits oversized, but would likely fit perfectly as a 42 in the event of being used as an overcoat.
