Description: ***********The manual wind movement gains about 5 minutes by the end of its approximate 45 power reserve period. Given this and considering that the movement shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. Additionally, although this watch was originally marketed as a men's watch more than 80 years ago, given its 30 mm size excluding the crown and 16 mm lug width it would now be considered a women's watch or at best unisex.***********This seldom seen vintage 1930/40's Gallet has under the damaged crystal a "SWISS" only signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows age-related wear. The original lume, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged beautifully. The all stainless steel midsize lugholes case shows honest wear and signs of oxidation. The inside of the case back is stamped "GALLET & CO." followed by "SWISS" and "STAINLESS STEEL." The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels Swiss "GALLET & Co" stamped manual wind movement runs strong, albeit fast. After recently winding the crown an average of 55 times over multiple observation periods the movement gained about 5 minutes by the end of its approximate 45 hour power reserve period. The non-screwdown crown winds smoothly. Given that the movement runs fast and considering that it shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 30 mm excluding the crown, approximately 32.5 mm including the crown and approximately 16 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 6.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 36 mm. It comes on what may be its original Speidel stretch that will comfortably accommodate up to an approximate 6.5 inch wrist. A complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
