Description: DATING TO THE 1890’S FASHIONED OF A BLACK STRIPED BROWN SILK TAFFETA AND IS TWO PIECE IN CONSTRUCTION. THE BODICE HAS BEAUTIFUL PUFF FULL MUTTON STYLE SLEEVES WITH A SHORT PILE BROWN COTTON VELVET ON THE FITTED BOTTOM SLEEVE. THE TOP IS DRAPED FULLY AROUND IN THE BROWN VELVET WITH VELVET CENTERED BUTTONS CLOSING THE FRONT AND VELVET BAND COLLAR AT THE NECKLINE. INTERIOR LINED IN POLISHED COTTON. THE SKIRT IS IN MATCHING FABRIC AND LINED IN POLISHED COTTON WITH CARTRIDGE PLEATS ON THE REAR TOP WAISTLINE WITH A BUTTON CLOSING. THE BOTTOM IS BOUND IN A RASPBERRY RED VELVET. CONDITION: ONE PINHEAD HOLE IN THE SKIRT THAT IS UNSEEN. THE TOP HAS ONE PINHEAD ABSENCE ON THE FRONT RIGHT CHEST, JUST ASIDE THE VELVET, UNSEEN. TWO SMALL STAINS ARE SEEN TO ONE SLEEVE. UNDERARMS HAVE A LIGHT AGE COLOR THAT IS NOT READILY NOTED AND THE CENTER BUTTON IS MISSING FROM THE CLOSURE. A BEAUTIFUL AND WEARABLE ALL ORIGINAL VICTORIAN MUTTON SLEEVE GOWN.
