Description: This auction is for a very rare swing tailstock manufactured in 1901 by W.D. Clements in Waltham MA. It is made to fit any make of lathe and consists of a base pivoted on a shoe, which fits the lathe bed. The rear end of the base is graduated so it can be set to known angles and returned to line by inserting a taper pin at the rear. I am not completely familiar with this devise and it may be missing a part. But given it's age and rareity it is in great shape . There is a crack in the housing on the top of the piece but it does not affect the function of the unit. You can see this in the photos. Please note that the base plate is for a Moseley Lathe bed and not for a Clement bed. It is also missing the T bolt under the base. Please ask any questions before bidding.
