Description: Very Rare! Vintage 1950s Roy Rogers King of the Cowboys tooled leather bag. This was my father's when he was a child and has been in storage ever since. I pulled it out a few years back and I have been trying to research it since. A big part of letting this go at this point is I want it to find a home of someone that will appreciate this remarkable piece! Also, I am trying to raise some funds to help my parents out in these difficult times. The regular school bags (not tooled "leather" design) show up now and then and fetch prices anywhere from $75-$300 depending on condition. I have only ever been able to find one other bag that matches this design and it sold for over $15,000! And that one was in dreadful condition! This one is in fantastic condition for being 72 years old! Would make a fantastic addition to your collection and a nearly perfect condition display piece! The very minor flaws. The only thing missing from this one is the shoulder strap. There is some minor wear. A little cracking on the top and some minor surface rust on the metal bits. There is a name address and phone# written on the inside. All of this can be seen in the pictures. There is some wear and discoloration on the interior from normal use. The stats 14in. Wide 9in tall 3in deep It has a main compartment, a front pouch, and a small zippered "pencil" pocket on the top flap. The colors are still very vibrant and look like it did back when it was new! All of the closures are still in great condition and work fine. The main body of the bag seems to be faux tooled leather but the straps and front pouch are made from leather. The leather is in excellent condition the main body is fairly stiff but doesn't seem to be to brittle.
