Early outside shots are always nice generally, and this one is particularly nice. Subject identified in hand written pencil on the reverse as "Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, 1870", probably the name of the town. Image style & content make this CdeV appear to be c.1860 -1870. Carte de Visite photos were popular, both by military men and civilians. Carte de Visites were the most popular format during the war years, and including military and political leaders and other subjects in your CdV album was very popular. This was the best way to collect and display and honor them, not having the various other methods we have today. THIS WAS CLEARLY A NICE SHOT OF A FANCY EARLY UPPER DARBY, PENNSYLVANIA HOUSE.
