Her Obituary Violet June Ehrlicher, 100, of Billings, passed away on June 14, 2021, at Billings Clinic. She was born on June 4, 1921, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to John and Ann (Simmons) Decker. She married Alfred Ehrlicher in 1942. After marrying, Violet and Alfred (Vi & Bud, as they liked to be called) moved to Westfield, New Jersey, where they raised four children. After the passing of her husband in 1973, a few years later, Violet moved to Spearfish, South Dakota, to be with family, where she continued to do her artwork. Violet was a skilled artist, and her award-winning oil paintings were popular with collectors from coast to coast. While most of her work included flowers, the subject matter ranged from landscapes to wildlife, reflecting her appreciation of the world around her. She was predominately self-taught and attended workshops and studied with professional artists to improve her work. She was honored with numerous awards, including Best of Show and People's Choice in various competitions. Her work can be found in the Dakota Art Gallery in Rapid City, South Dakota; and the Wild Rose in Spearfish, South Dakota. She participated in several juried shows, including the Santa Rosa Art Show in Santa Rosa, California. Violet later moved from Spearfish to Billings in 2001, where she continued to enjoy being with her family and grandchildren. She also continued her artwork. Violet then joined the Newcomers Club in 2004, where she played bridge with many fun groups of ladies. With the Club, Violet met many wonderful friends - friends who lasted the rest of her life. She loved them all. Violet loved life, her family, friends and pets. She was truly a remarkable woman. Brave, beautiful, talented and loving. Violet lived a wonderful life, a life to be celebrated.
