Description: Vaca Muerta Taltal, Atacama Chile Meteorite in a Riker Mount. Purchased from Michael J. Caspar Meteorites, Inc. Also has Post Office Drawer J, Ithaca, New York 14851 on the card. This was probably purchased at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show many years ago. This is a stony-iron Mesosiderite MES class from a fall that was found in 1861. MES Class meteorites are a rare type of meteorite with only 208 are known to exist as of November 2014. I do not have a way of weighing it but is is approximately 1/2 inch long by 1/4 inch wide by 1/4 inch high. Comes in a glass vial with a screw top inside the 3 1/4 inch by 4 1/4 inch Riker Mount.
