Distinguishing features are composition as noted above, and designs. All 1961 pattern coins have the Hammer and Sickle seal with 'CCCP' underneath on the obverse, and denominations and dates on the reverse. The 1991 pattern generally follows the same design except for the 10 and 50 kopeck coins on which the seal has been replaced by a view of the of the Kremlin Tower Gate and Dome. 'Government Bank' was added, ringing the edge, with a much smaller 'CCCP' at bottom. The 1991 issues were the first (and last,) Soviet coins to have mint marks ('M' Moscow, 'Л' Leningrad). See scans. No big dings or dogs, usual patina for age and grade. Will show normal signs of use. Dates and details clear. Designs and dates may vary, but the Quality! will not. Great for students, educators, collectors. Makes a nice gift pack for the old Cold Warrior, or history buff in your life! FREE DOMESTIC U.S. SHIPPING Thanks for looking! Please see my other items for more German, Soviet and other historical curios. Q: What am I buying, and why would I want it? A: The coins are from the former Soviet Union and were issued from 1961, at the height of the Cold War, up until its abrupt end in 1991. They were demonetized and withdrawn from circulation in 1992/93. The picturesque collection is a memento of a time not so very long ago when Humanity stood on the precipice of nuclear extinction, and when an "Evil Empire" which had murdered millions, fell almost bloodlessly. You will hold history in your hands. SKR: 1917274591RU00 CC89 V61C 1V2C 2RM8 240623
