It occupies a fairly large area in the very center of the city, along the edges of which three madrasahs (Muslim educational institutions) were erected. In the 17th century, in the Registan, where the Ulugbek madrasah had already been built, two majestic buildings were built, the Sherdor Madrasah and the Tillya-Kari Madrasah. The buildings are quite impressive in size with characteristic oriental decoration and ornaments. Madrasah Sher-Dor - a building with lions, a mirror image of another Ulugbek madrasah. It took 17 years to build the Sherdor madrasah, and 10 years after this construction, a new building began - the Tillya-Kari madrasah, which translates as trimmed with gold. Madrasahs carry educational activities, these are educational institutions, but the mosques of the Registan are also the main Muslim shrines, and to this day the spirituality of this ensemble has not lost its strength. All three buildings, madrasahs, face the center and create a wonderful composition. Each building is distinguished by its unique decor, in particular, unsurpassed stone carvings. Blue domes of baked stone rise above the building, which are lined with glazed tiles on the outside.
