Description: US Navy First Day Postal Cachet Cover: USS Barbel SS 580 Submarine & Insert 7/19/1958, Portsmouth Naval Yard Good condition as shown, cover is stamped and cancelled (cancellation date is the same as the submarine launch) but not addressed. Staining on back of envelope from adhesive as shown as well as to the collector's insert - front is mostly unstained. Some wear at corners. This is part of a small collection from a relative who worked as a civilian engineer in the Portsmouth shipyard for many years; there are other submarine first day covers available in separate postings (some with invitations to launch events) - please let me know if you are interested in a combined purchase.
