Description: While attending the U.S. Army Reserve Officer's Training Corps (ROTC) Program at the Pennsylvania State University from 1978 - 1982, I participated in the U.S. Army's Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) that originated in March 1980. This program allowed individuals to be a part of both the U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard and their college's ROTC program. Once enrolled in the SMP, the ROTC cadet was required to select a combat arms branch and attend its basic and advanced individual training courses to become branch qualified to participate in this program. Since I was planning to accept an Active Army assignment upon my graduation from Penn State and being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, I signed up for the SMP and enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserves in March 1980. The Senior ROTC Training Non-Commissioned Officer, SFC Gosnell, who was a Combat Infantryman, gave me this Headquarters, Department of the Army Graphic Training Aid 3-6-2 NBC Warning and Reporting System, June 1975 fold out training tool to study prior to my attendance at the U.S. Army Infantry One Station Unit Training Course at Fort Benning, GA in May 1980. After completing Infantry Basic and Infantry Advanced Individual Training (AIT) courses on 28 August 1980, I was assigned to the U.S. Army Reserve's, Company B, 314th Mechanized Infantry Battalion located in Huntingdon, PA on 1 September 1980. I attempted to return this Headquarters, Department of the Army Graphic Training Aid (GTA) to SFC Gosnell, but he said that I should consider this training tool as a graduation present for not only successfully completing Infantry Basic and Advanced Infantry Training but maxing out the Performance Oriented Infantry Qualification Test and graduating the 12-week course with honors. I kept this vintage training aid with my other military GTA’s at my workplace offices and after retirement I stored them in several of our smoke free homes. During the relocation of my wife and I from Manassas, VA to Fort Myers, FL we significantly downsized, and our new condominium does not have the space to indefinitely store all of my military training material and military service memorabilia. Subsequently, I have decided to begin posting these items for sale on eBay. The next item for sale is this vintage Department of the Army Graphic Training Aid 3-6-2 NBC Warning and Reporting System, June 1975 fold out training tool. The front view of the original vintage Headquarters, Department of the Army Graphic Training Aid 3-6-2 NBC Warning and Reporting System, June 1975 fold out training tool is shown in the first attached high-resolution photograph. There are three columns of information: “LETTER, NUCLEAR FORMS and CHEMICAL OR BIOLOGICAL FORMS” that are contained under these headings on Page 1, Page 2 and Page 3. As exhibited in the previous photographs, this original vintage Headquarters, Department of the Army Graphic Training Aid 3-6-2 NBC Warning and Reporting System, June 1975 fold out training tool is in excellent condition for almost 50 years old. This fold out has no rips or tears, only minor dirt smudges from classroom use and individual study. In addition, this GTA card was only used indoors and never taken outside. This item would be a great addition for any novice or professional military collector. Note: Photographs are an important part of my description; please review all photographs before purchasing.
