Description: Offered in this listing is a matched pair of antique hand-held fans woven from wheat! They date from the American Civil War period, 1861-1865, and are beautifully crafted and in excellent condition especially considering their advanced age and the lightweight organic material they are made of. The closest thing I have ever come across before were fans made in the South from Palmettos. These fans measure 14 1/2" high from tops of the heart shaped fan to the ends of the handles. They measure 8" wide at their widest. i believe they were crafted by someone in one of the Southern Confederate states during wartime or perhaps the Antebellum period. They are in perfect condition with the exception of two missing "loops" that make up the outermost edges of the heart shapes. Each fan has a prettily folded and formed "rosette" in the center of each heart. Please consider my photos as part of the description, and message me with any questions you might have. They are sturdy enough to use if one wanted to, and they look very pretty displayed. Thank you for taking the time to check out my listing, and I hope you will consider adding me to your favorite sellers list.
