Description: Two rare newspaper awards from Hokkai Times Co. (北海タイムス社), a newspaper that was in existence between 1887 and 1998. Both of these are from 1930s and early 1940s, in original boxes. Both boxes inscribed: Award Hokkai Times Co. (Shō Hokkai Taimusu sha 賞北海タイムス社). Larger box badge: Eagle and word: Award (Shō 賞), on reverse Logo with word Times, and company name in kanji: Hokkai Times Co. (北海タイムス社). Date: probably mid 1930s. Material: base metalCondition: some plating chipped off on handle, abrasions, scratches, loss of plating, oxidation. Smaller box badge: Eagle on the globe depicting Hokkaido Island, inscribed: Award Hokkai Times Co. (Shō Hokkai Taimusu sha 賞北海タイムス社). Reverse: Star with letter T inside, and company name: Hokkai Times Co. (北海タイムス社).Date: late 1930s or early 1940s (before 1942 or so). After 1942 quality of most medals went significantly down.Material: base metalCondition: minor abrasions, minor scratches, loss of plating, oxidation. Neither have a suspension mechanism, as issued- I am not sure if these were intended as watch fobs or recipient would add a ribbon and pin it to jacket and wear it in that manner.
