Description: "Twenty Years of Congress: From Lincoln to Garfield, with a Review of the Events Which Led to the Political Revolution of 1860, Volume I" is a 646 page (plus xv and 6 plates), 6.5"x9.75" hardcover written by James G. Blaine and published in 1884 by The Henry Bill Publishing Company (Norwich, CT). This is Vol. I only (of 2) - the volumes were originally published in different years. Blaine represented Massachusetts in the House of Representatives from 1863-1876, then as a Senator until 1881, and ran several times for President. This volume, however, is concerned with American politics prior to those years, focusing instead on the events which led to the Civil War. There's a fold-out map at the back, and six plates. The book is in good condition. The full leather binding shows numerous scratches, rubbing to the edges, several small spots of loss. The hinges are starting to crack. There's a pencil mark on the ffep, another to the last flyleaf, and the interior is age-toned. There's a stain at the bottom of the first 5 leaves. The map is torn at several spots. The binding is sturdy. International buyers – please note: Import duties, taxes, and charges aren't included in the item price or postage cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.
