Description: T&V Plate Hand Painted Apples by Pickard Studio Artist A.C. 1905-1907 Red Green An Elegant Decorative 8 1/2" PLATE from T&V Co. (Tressemann & Vogt) Limoges, France, Hand Painted APPLES at Pickard's RAVENWOOD STUDIO by artist A.C. (Arthur Comyn), Circa 1905-1907 Begun in the 1850’s, Vogt & Dose became Tressemann & Vogt when Emillien Tressemann joined the company in 1882. This was essentially a decorating studio which began manufacturing their own china in 1891 in Limoges, France. The company continued until it was dissolved due to the retirement of Tressemann in 1907. From 1907-1919, the company operated as Porcelain Gustave Vogt under the direction of Gustave Vogt, John Vogt’s son, and continued to use the T&V mark. T&V is well known for its quality whiteware and boldly decorated hand paintings. Interesting enough, we find Tressemann spelled as Tressemanes or Tresseman in multiple authoritative sources. The green T&V underglaze manufacturer's mark on this is "New Palissy Patent Applied For" documented in Mary Frank Gaston's Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition and is similar to mark #7b used 1892-1907. This also has the W.A. Pickard brown mark documented in Alan B. Reed's Collector's Encyclopedia of Pickard China as mark #5 used 1905-1910 (the first mark used at Ravenwood Studio). The combination of these two marks dates this plate 1905-1907. While this decorative plate is classified as used, its condition is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. There is no wear on the gold on the rim. This decorative plate has a diameter of 8 1/2" and a height of 1". The decorative is painted by a talented artist to be viewed from any angle. As collectors ourselves, we tend to be very picky and find it necessary to point out anything we see.
