Description: This large fossil trilobite, Reedops cephalotes hamlagdadianus comes from Morocco. It dates to the Devonian.The fossil measures 3.1 inches long ( if flattened) and 1.25 inches wide. The entire specimen, trilobite and matrix, measures 2.65 inches long, 2.0 inches wide and 1.85 inches high. Well-preserved schizochroal lenses are present in the right eye.The trilobite has been repaired on the tip of the cephalon. In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks and the specimens often get broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable.
