Description: Original Japanese LP released in 1982 on Baystate Records. Cat: RJL8036. The final recording by the original Toshiko Akiyoshi-Lew Tabackin Big Band consists of four originals written by pianist Akiyoshi in memory of the band's second tour of Europe. "Remembering Bud" is a tribute to both Bud Powell and his French supporter Francis Paudras. "Feast in Milano," with spots for altoist Matt Catingub and trombonist Hart Smith, was inspired by a huge meal in Italy. A ski lodge in Austria forms the theme of "Relaxing at Zell Am See" which has solos for trumpeter Buddy Childers, baritonist Bill Byrne and Lew Tabackin's tenor. Finally there is the two-part 19½ minute "Two Faces of a Nation" which is about the innocence and horror of Germany's history; trumpeter Steve Huffsteter, trombonist Bruce Fowler, altoist Bob Sheppard, tenor-saxophonist John Gross and Tabackin (on both flute and tenor) get to make statements. Cover has the start of a seam split on spine and is in VG+ condition. Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape.
