Description: Item description: Up for sale is TOMBOW EGG ZOOM matt black rollerball. Long time discontinued. This pen was made in JAPAN dates back to the 80's. The pen is preserved, and can fit as a valuable addition and would grace any collection, and is a quality pen that will perfectly function, as a daily writer. A chunky and strange design that fits surprisingly comfortable in the hand. These Zoom Egg Pens are now no longer available from TOMBOW. Japanese craftsmanship, original TOMBOW black color refill is attached, almost full. Designated by TOMBOW as the Zoom 858 bw, but better known as the "Egg Matte Black", this pen won the prestigious European Red Dot award in 1989. Introduced in 1987, and officially launched in 1988, it did not take long before Egg took off as a darling anomaly of the pen community. In 1986 TOMBOW launched the Zoom brand to develop pens intended to break the mould and stimulate creativity. A year later in 1987 Zoom launched a rollerball pen called the “808” which soon became referred to as the Egg Pen for obvious reasons. Although first produced as a rollerball pen, a fountain pen version soon followed. Probably the widest of pens, its innovative appearance and metal gift box made it an ideal novelty gift, in addition to being a very able writing instrument. The TOMBOW Zoom Egg Pen at various stages was produced in white, silver, black and a grey soft touch finish. No major issues or imperfections being noted as dents/cracks /dings/scratches/brassing/shading/discoloration or engraving/ personalization/tarnish. Some plating wear at the clip coating. The pen has been previously used and will show slight age related wear. Photos are part of the sale, and are exactly what will be delivered, nothing similar or anything else from the real item in photos.
