Description: This is the original (1sh) 1957 Italian 4-Fogli movie poster THIS ISLAND EARTH. It was issued when the movie was released by Universal International in 1957 to promote the film. This is not a reprint nor a reproduction. The movie stars Jeff Morrow, Faith Domergue, Rex Reason, Lance Fuller, Russell Jonson (the Professor from Gilligan's Island), and Orangey as "Neutron The Cat". It was directed by Joseph Newman and Jac Arnold. The artwork on this poster is from Edmondo De Amicis. This restored movie poster is rolled and linen backed and measures 55" x 77". With the linen backing, its overall measurements are 57" x 79". Prior to restoration, this poster was Folded and in two panels. Most original movie posters pre 1985 are Folded and this is not considered a flaw. Nor is being issued in two panels considered a flaw. CONDITION DESCRIPTION (continued from above) There is a crease line along the top border above "lavorazione". There is light creasing and faint smudges sparsely in the image throughout, but it is certainly not obtrusive. Although some of the prior Fold lines are still somewhat visible, they are somewhat visible only under close inspection and bright light; and the Fold lines are not word or separated. Fold lines are not considered flaws as most original movie posters pre-1985 are Folded. We have tried to describe in writing and have added photos of all of these described flaws so that you, the potential buyer can decide for yourself the grade of this original movie posters. This original movie poster is graded C8, Very Fine. Original movie posters are graded, from the top down, as: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine or Excellent), C7 (Fine to Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc. It is difficult to find any original movie posters pre 1985 in C10 (Mint) condition. This original movie poster is immediately ready for framing and display. The post-restoration flaws that we have described are not obtrusive, that is your eyes are not immediately drawn to any of these flaws, nor do they distract from the beauty of this original movie poster - in our opinion. The tax stamp at the top left is visible, but small. Although visible, this tax stamp - to us - verifies the originality of this poster as we doubt they put tax stamps on reproductions. Prior to restoration, this original movie poster was graded C7.5 Very Fine minus. Restoration corrected the following flaws: fold wear, small tears, and pinholes. There has been touchup applied to the top white background. And paper tape is joining the two sections of the poster, and that tape is still apparent. Possibly down the road we may have this original movie poster further restored to address the flaws that we have described in writing and in the photos.
