The Thermo Scientific REVCO CxF ULT390-10-A ultra-low temperature chest freezer has a temperature range of -50° to -86°C with a capacity of 3 cubic feet (85 liters) and runs on 120V / 60 Hz power. This unit delivers all the sample protection features of the ExF and DxF freezers. As a result, the series delivers a foundational ULT experience with the reliability and performance needed to protect your work. CONDITION AND FUNCTIONALITY: The unit is in mint condition. We bought it new from Thermo and only two people used it infrequently for 2 years before replacing if for an about 10-times larger 28.8 cu. ft. -80°C freezer. This chest freezer maintain the temperature at -80°C even after you retrieve contents from it because cold air sinks and warm air rises. In contrast to upright freezers, where as soon as you open the door, the temperature of the freezer goes up very fast. Also, this chest freezer accumulates very little snow and no ice; only around the central hole of the black secondary internal Styrofoam lid. In the two years, we did not have to do defrosting, and when it was turned off, there was essentially no ice or snow. The only maintenance required is to clean the air filter quarterly (we did it bi-monthly; remove it, wash it under tap water, dry it, put it back), and to remove the ice from the Styrofoam secondary lid sporadically (just leaving it out and letting it dry). The alarm backup battery works perfectly well in case of power outages (we tested it quarterly) (the replacement battery costs $29.20, SKU: NP7-12A-TSX, recommended bi-annual change). It also consumes low amounts of power. We recently measured it for 15 days set at -80°C and found that it consumes 4.86 kWh/day. DISCLAIMERS: It is a used unit in like-new condition (see photos and video). The unit comes with everything a new unit comes with as seen in the pictures, including the power cord and the user manual. The unit has been turned off, cleaned thoroughly, disinfected with 70% ethanol, let it dry for a few days, wrapped with stretch wrap to prevent dust from accumulating or entering the unit. It will be transported by a reliable shipper, insured, and is guaranteed to arrive in working condition. It is currently stored in a climate-controlled storage facility, ready to ship.
