When Smith discovers a man named Col. Marcus Jeffries, who has been sent as the new tax collector for the state, Smith has Jeffries killed and assumes his identity. Smith uses Jeffries taxing authority to help gain financial control of Texas. News of "Jeffries" activities reaches the Texas Rangers, and they have come to investigate. Before the rangers can stop anything they are ambushed by Jeffries men and are left for dead. An Indian, Tonto finds one of the rangers still alive and nurses him back to health. The Lone Ranger is born. In a plot device that would later be borrowed for Republic's "The Masked Marvel". Five men wear similar outfits to the Lone Rangers. But, which one is the real Ranger? With Tonto's help, these brave men fight to bring Jeffries to justice, at the cost of there lives. The Lone Ranger was one of many lost serials until a incomplete print was uncovered in Mexico, which contains Spanish subtitles. Over the years a complete French dubbed print was uncovered. A few serial fans did their best to add English audio tracks with limited results. Some chapters were abbreviated, or mostly missing. The picture quality is not what anyone would call great, but all prints available have come from the very same source material. This version has been restored, and comes complete with chapter titles and recaps in English, as well as all notes and signs restored to English.
