Description: We are offering two beautifully illustrated catalogs for The International Fur store, London, England. One is for the 1923-1924 Autumn/Winter Season "New Fashions in Furs"; the other is for the 1924-1925 Autumn/Winter Season "Beautiful Furs De Luxe in Original Styles". Showcased in the catalogs are Musquash, Moleskin, Squirrel, Skunk, Ermine, Nutria, Beaver, Broadtail [Lamb], Persian Lamb, Fox, Chinchilla, Mink, Marmot, Kolinski, and Sable, all of which they state will be shown at their Exhibition at the store's Fur Salons on Regent St. These elegant furs were worn by sophisticated society ladies, and each style is uniquely different from the others. One illustration is of a stole made up of an entire fox skin, with the front part of its body including the head draped over one shoulder and the back part of the body including the long tail draped over the other shoulder. The same is shown with a full-body snow leopard and a full-body lynx. This was considered very elegant. As shown in the illustrations, some of these furs were worn by ladies wearing elegant evening gowns and tiaras or the decorative headbands worn across the foreheads that were so popular in the "Roaring 20s". Other furs were more suited to outdoor day wear. CONDITION: The pages of both catalogs are Excellent. Covers of both have some small edge tears and soiling. The 1923-24 catalog - the front cover has partially separated from the back cover at the spine but has been repaired with acid-free archival mending tape.
