We never sell illegal copies or Asian imports.Synopsis: The Great Escape II: The Untold Story starring Christopher Reeve, as Major John Dodge, with Judd Hirsch and Donald Pleasence, examines the WWII story of allied prisoners recaptured and executed by the German Gestapo after a failed escape attempt, the search and capture of Stalag III officials responsible for the murders, and their eventual conviction at the War Crimes Court in Hamburg, 1947. Based on a book by prisoner Paul Brickhill, The Great Escape II, The Untold Story offers an insiders glimpse into the 1944 WWII mass escape from the German war camp, Stalag Luft III, as well as the execution of many of the recaptured prisoners, and the subsequent trial/conviction of their murderers. The Stalag Luft III murders were ultimately established as war crimes perpetrated by members of the German Gestapo, following their escape attempt on March 25, 1944, by tunneling beyond the camps perimeter. Of the 76 successful escapees, 73 were recaptured, most within several days of the breakout, and 50 were executed by the Gestapo on the personal orders of Adolf Hitler. These orders were put forward by Hermann Goering and Heinrich Himmler, in violation of the Geneva Convention, which specified that prisoners of war could not be killed for trying to escape. The executions were completed within a short period of time following the escape and carried out by Part IIs primary protagonist, Burchardt, an SD officer put in charge of capturing and killing the escaped airmen. The Great Escape II, starring Christopher Reeve, as Major John Dodge, with Judd Hirsch and Donald Pleasence, offers a more accurate version of this welldocumented historical event than the original film, and reveals the way the prisoners were murdered. The storyline does expand to the next set of events, by depicting the investigative groups postwar search for the Gestapo agents that were responsible for the murders, and led by Major Dodge, resulting in their subsequent capture and conviction at the War Crimes Court in Hamburg, Germany, 1947. Several factual names (John Dodge, Roger Bushell, Winston Churchill, Gunther Absalon, Adolf Hitler, Hermann Goering) are also presented.
