Description: The Death of "Superman Lives"; What Happened? delves into one of Hollywood's most enthralling what-if stories. In 1996, Warner Bros engaged Kevin Smith to write a screenplay based on DC Comics "The Death of Superman" comic books. Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage was cast in the role of Superman, and Tim Burton was hired to direct. Burton assembled an elite group of artists to work on the film, but weeks before principal photography began, Warner Bros pulled the plug on "Superman Lives". Directed by Jon schnapp (Metalocalypse, ABCs of Death), this documentary features interviews with director Tim Burton; producers Jon Peters and Lorenzo di Bonaventura; screenwriters Kevin smith, Wesley Strick, and Dan Gilroy; production designer Rick Heinrichs; special effects artist Steve Johnson; costume designer Colleen Atwood, and many of the original concept artists. This film gives an inside look into what would have been the most original and cosmic Superman movie ever made. Rare, out-of-production blu ray, signed by the late director. Also comes with a limited edition print of the film festival poster art.
