Description: An original, authentic page from The D'Allemagne Book of 1906. I am listing several examples of these out of a collector's estate. This page and the others I'm listing were purchased in Italy back in the 1970's and stored carefully. In remarkable condition for a nearly 120 year old print, as the pictures will attest. Each page measures approximately 9 x 12 inches and is attached loosely by the corners to the mat so easily removed if you so desire. Each mat measures approximately 12 x 14 inches. The mat is in very nice condition, absolutely ready to frame as is, there is some soiling and wear and tear to the plastic wrap only and reflections in the photographs. I chose not to remove the plastic to protect the page but look closely to the photographs to ascertain the condition. This wonderful work of art will be carefully wrapped and boxed for shipping. Several of the prints listed (not this one) had these labels affixed to the back of the mat: "The D'Allemagne Book of 1906. Henri-Rene D'Allemagne was the Archival-Paleographic librarian of the Library of L'Arsenal, France. He produced a landmark work titled "Les Cartes a Jouer du XIV au XX siecle" (Decks of Cards from the 14th through the 20th Century). It contained 3,200 reproductions of cards, many of which were hand colored using stencils and some in watercolors. There was a very limited printing of the work, and copies of a complete book sell for around $2,000. However, when the binding broke on one copy, the owner took many of the loose pages and mounted them for individual sale. The original of many of the cards D'Allemagne documented in 1906 no longer exist. World War II with its terrible fire bombings claimed many decks of cards along with other art work. In this package is an authentic page from the D'Allemange book, suitable for remounting. These are frequently taken by collectors and colored by hand to their original brilliance. The artwork in this package is not permanently attached to the mounting frame. The present wrapping is designed only to protect the artwork, and should be professionally remounted and framed to suit your own design needs."
