The film takes place in 1692 and involves fictionalized incidents that led to the infamous Salem Witch Trials, one of the darkest periods in early American history. Jean-Paul Sartre was chosen to write the screenplay which, in the end, differed a great deal from the original play by Miller. This poster is from the first release of the film in Belgium in 1957 and features outstanding artwork that is unique to this seldom available Belgian release poster. DESCRIPTION: The Crucible (1957) - Pathe Consortium Cinema, Directed by Raymond RouleauCOUNTRY OF ORIGIN/SIZE: Belgium 14.75" x 22.5" CONDITION: Very Good Untrimmed Folded Condition. Untrimmed top white border has a number of pinholes, a few light smudges and an extra horizontal crease. There are a couple of additional pinholes in the bottom border corners. Some very minor crinkling in the surrounding white border edges. Artwork is vivid and completely intact. Folded as originally issued, this poster has been stored flat for the past 20 years and will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube or box.
