Description: A very very rare opportunity to purchase a Complete First Edition First Printing set of The Chronicals of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Illustrated by Pauline Baynes. Published by Geoffrey Bles (first 5 volumes) and The Bodley Head (last 2 volumes) between 1950-1956. First edition, first printing of all 7 volumes in the series. All 7 books have been beautifully rebound in the finest goatskin leather by Temple Bookbinders of Oxford, appointed bookbinder to Her Majesty The Queen. Each cover has raised bands, spines in 6 panels, leather title label to second panel, author label to forth, bands bordered by single gilt rules, covers with single fillet border, gilt to inner den tellers. The books have been rebound with the intention to be read and handled and as such the highest quality materials have been used so the books will look like this for decades to come subject to normal reading use and appropriate care. Externally they are like new. Internally each book has one or two spots of foxing as you would expect for their age, but generally they are bright and clean with every page perfectly readable.
