Description: 😳🥶🥵 An orchid that can live outdoors year-round (or almost year-round) in many places, and which (when mature) can even make it through both heatwaves *and* a light frost?! 😳🥶🥵 Yep, unlike their fussy orchid cousins, Australian dendrobiums are extremely hardy plants that thrive in part-sun or light dappled shade (think like under a tree) in a surprisingly large range of temperatures...well, at least when they're not tiny baby plants. These plants are still young, though, in two inch pots, but they're ready to be up-potted into larger containers ASAP. So these lil' guys probably shouldn't live outdoors all year just yet, unless you're in a moderate and frost-free climate. (We're in the San Francisco Bay Area and we do have them in larger terra cotta pots outdoors year round.) These orchids should have nice yellow starry-shaped blooms on long spikes that come out of fairly low foliage. They will fit on your orchid shelves just fine. If you grow them inside, they would prefer to be in a sunny window, or in a sunroom, or under grow lights year round, so they will grow faster and bloom sooner. They're also not too fussy about watering, because they have nice fat pseudobulbs. Just make sure they're in a mid-size or chunky bark mix, not actual soil. We like planting ours in some that has bark mixed with lava rocks or even some actual rocks, too. After all, the white version of this plant, the Dendrobium speciosum, is even nicknamed the “rock orchid". These plants are *not* currently in bloom, but if repotted and given good light, they will likely bloom in about two years. The photos of the flowers here are from the original grower's sample photo (used with permission), meant for reference. And now for some terms and conditions: 📦 SHIPPING: YES, WE COMBINE SHIPPING! We'll refund you any overage if you buy more than one plant. We usually only ship our live plants via USPS Priority Mail. We only ship within the continental US. We prefer to ship on Mondays and Tuesdays so that the plants have a lower risk of getting stuck at a post office over the weekend. 🚫 NO RETURNS, NO REFUNDS: These are living plants, and we'll do our best to wrap them very carefully and ship them to you quickly, with a tracking number, but once they're out of our hands, they're all yours. It's possible that a plant could suffer some damage in the shipping process, like having a leaf turn yellow or even losing some altogether, but that's the risk you take in shipping live plants through the mail, and we really do try to wrap them well so they can arrive safe and sound. If the post office loses your box or delays it unreasonably long, you can file a claim with USPS, but under their rules it has to be done by you (the buyer), not by us. By purchasing this plant (or bulbs, or tubers), you agree to these terms and conditions. 😁 Happy growing!
