Description: I just finished creating this two-ended pen for teachers or anybody who needs two different color ink in whatever task they're pursuing. The smooth, twist mechanisms extend and retract mini ink refills in either red or black ink. The pen has chrome colored hardware. The pen was all turned by me in my shop. The center part was turned from a piece of blue acrylic with black threads whereas the black and red end pieces were turned from African Blackwood and (I believe) bloodwood. Unlike my earlier pens, these black and red parts are natural colors instead of being dyed. All wood parts were sanded to 600 grit then the parts were polished with a sanding polish then finished with a buffing polish. The acrylic center was sanded to 6000 grit then finished with an acrylic polish. Note the last 3 pictures are of a red tip - probably not from this pen and are included to show what the removable refill mechanism looks like for replacement. The mini refills can be purchased at any office supply store or online. The refills are easily replaced by pulling the pen apart at the gold band, unscrewing the refill from the end of the twist mechanism, pulling the threaded cap off the empty refill, then reversing the process to put the pen back together. I cannot emphasize enough that you need to pull the threaded cap off the refill to use on the replacement refill when needed. The refills are a Cross style 5828-4 or Zebra #4C and are available in other colors besides red and black. The generic refill style is a D1 style, but they need to be 2 11/16 or 2 3/4 inches long. bl2
