Description: TALL VINTAGE HOPI QUOI-A KACHINA KATSINA For your consideration is this fine Quoi-a (or Kau-a) Kachina (Colton #135) carved in the old and more traditional bilaterally-symmetrical style. Quoi-a sings in Navajo and is seen in the regular kachina dance. He appears in Plaza Dances or in the Pachavu at Mishongnovi. Sometimes he is seen in the line of the Chief Kachinas where he acts as a helper for the pachavu Manas. He gets his name from the sound that the kachina makes while he is dancing. He is also called Sisiyak or Runny Nose. Brightly painted in traditional colors, this infrequently-carved Kachina stands 12.75” (32.3 cm) exclusive of feathers. This fine Quoi-a kachina is in excellent condition and will make an impressive addition to your Native American or Kachina collection.
