This Vintage PreAmp is NOS and is in very good condition for its age. The preamp electronics have been thoroughly tested: working 100% ( Other items shown are for display purposes only and are not included ) ~ Takamine Preamps DO NOT come with a preamp Mounting Chassis ~ Designed by KORG for Takamine it is a great sounding preamp that features programmable EQ settings and 2 kinds of Reverb. The AD-1 can be one of the most difficult Takamine preamps to tweak if you are not familiar with resonant frequencies and how to properly use EQ. Because of the AD-1’s advanced circuitry you can end up deriving a lesser tone from the preamp because of it’s sophisticated programming capabilities some of which are “hidden” in the preamp’s innovative Sub-Function settings. The AD-1 uses batteries fairly quickly; expect the lifespan of the 2 AA batteries to be 4 – 6 hours depending on the batteries brand and how much reverb is being used. Turning off the reverb on the user settings side will help but the several of the factory settings will still have the reverb turned on. The AD-1 has the distinction of being the only Takamine preamp built within a metal housing which provides great shielding. Battery lifespan aside, the deciding factor for using this preamp boils down to: “Do I like to tweak?” If you do not enjoy programming settings and exploring the sonic attributes afforded to you by the advanced technology of the AD-1 this is not the preamp for you. Many sellers do not possess a working knowledge of the Takamine equipment they are selling and simply send merchandise without examining the item being sold. As a guitarist, artist and former touring musician I understand how important this equipment is to the individual purchasing it; most of my customers are casual players but for some of my clients the part being purchased is needed for work and making a livelihood - an extended downtime can make for some potentially hungry days! The testing process was originally started for the sake of my over-seas patrons but I quickly realized the value of it for all my clients!
