It hit the market just at a time when many thought the popularity of SWATCH had peaked. The main objective was to produce a line of SWATCHES that, like the SWATCH standard was reminiscent of classical watches that other lines they had developed. The Chrono was an immediate success! In appearance, the Chrono did not depart too far from the distinctive colored dials of the standard SWATCH but the movement, a multifunction ETA quartz, was a fully functional chronograph. It was a 1/10 second timer with stop and reset facility, subsidiary dials for recording hours, minutes and seconds; individual lap times and intervals of up to 12 hours could be measured and there was a tachymeter scale for calculating speed. This 36mm SWATCH Chrono is working with a fresh battery installed. The collectors book "SWATCH a Guide for Connoisseurs and Collectors" is 160 pages and was published in 1998 as the then current definitive guide to all things SWATCH.
