Description: Sussex: Painted By Wilfrid Ball, published in April 1907 (reprinted from 1906 with slight alterations) by Adam & Charles Black in London. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, it features 75 color plates and a nice history of the county of Sussex. The book is in good condition for its age with the following wear noted: Minor wear to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine; the binding is loose on the front and back covers and strained in a few more places; some spotting on the first and last few pages; plate 2, Market Cross, Alfriston, has come loose and is inserted. Please see photos. Wilfrid Williams Ball (1853–1917) was a British Victorian and Edwardian painter of landscapes and marine subjects which was frequently used on postcards and greeting cards. He published two books of his work, Sussex: Painted by Wilfrid Ball (1906) and Hampshire: Painted by Wilfrid Ball (1909). Most of the items I sell are used and may show some signs ofwear. I do my best to point out, photograph and describe any major flaws. Somecolors may vary due to lighting and differences in computer screens, smartphones and the human eye, but I try to be as accurate as possible.
