Description: SUPERB STAFFORDSHIRE 'AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE' PITCHER ROWLAND & MARSELLUS c1908 Click images to enlarge Description A highly detailed Staffordshire made pitcher commemoratng American Independence in 1776.. The pitcher was commissioned by the importers, wholesalers and retailers, Rowland & Marsellus Co. of New York. During the late 19th century up until WW2 they imported souvenir ware from several Staffordshire pottery companies. The design of this pitcher was registered in 1908 so it is reasonable to assume that production was sometime after this date, say c1910. Inside the spout is a depiction of the Liberty Bell; on the top of the handle is the Bunker Hill Monument. Around the top rim are portraits of Washington, Franklin, Henry, Hancock, Adams & Jefferson. Below the portraits are facsimile signatures of fifteen signatories to the Declaration of Independence. The main body of the pitcher has depictions of the signing of the declaration, Washington cossing the Delaware, Independence Hall, Faneuil Hall & Washington's farewell to his officers. The pitcher is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. If you have any questions please email. Pictures sell! Auctiva offers Free Image Hosting and Editing.300+ Listing Templates!
