Description: This Listing Superb Silver Gerardier L'aine French Verge Pocket Watch. F.W.O. Signed Enamel Picture Dial 1780/1815. Running with the Key.The silver case is a typical French silver case of the period, not hallmarked that I can see. It is in a very good condition. The front bezel is hinged for access to the face in order to wind and set. The hinge is firm with the lid opening to 90 degrees. The rear lid is press on/off for access to the movement. A very good high dome bulls eye mineral crystal in the bezel.The movement is in an excellent clean condition. It winds smoothly and is running the full length. It is signed for Girardier L'aine. The watch is key wind at the front and key set at the front on the main spindle square. The key is with it.The beautiful ivory white enamel dial is in excellent condition. It is signed for Girardier L'aine who was renowned for these beautiful enamel picture dial pocket watches. There is a small chip at the winding hole and on the edge above the birds wings, otherwise it is perfect.Kathleen Pritchard lists Girardier L'aine as a Master Watchmaker actively working from 1780 until 1815.This watch is offered for sale running with key. Please remember this is circa 225 years old, a quality antique working timepiece.The service history is not recorded, but I believe it was fully serviced when I acquired it some years ago and has been in my collection ever since.Diameter: 54.5 mm.
