Description: For sale is a Steinheil Munchen Quinar f/2.8 telephoto lens for Praktina. This example is in excellent cosmetic condition. There are only a few very slight marks on the lens body from normal wear and tear. Those marks are hardly worth mentioning. The lens hood has more wear and tear on it especially on its inside. Overall the lens presents itself in very good to excellent cosmetic condition. Operationally, the focus action feels very smooth and well lubricated except for the slightest of tightness at about the mid-range of focus. Again, I feel that this is hardly worth mentioning except in the interest of faithful disclosure. More significant, there appears to be the beginnings of fungus growth on the outer edge of one of the interior lens elements. There is the typical amount of dust on interior lens elements. The optics appear scratch free, although I hasten to add that any lens of this vintage will have some flaws of one kind or another. There is also a good amount of oil on the aperture blades. The preset-style aperture ring turns smoothly but has a slight resistance to it when turned toward f/2.8 probably due to the oil on the aperture blades. Otherwise the aperture ring operates well with the ring settling into each aperture setting with a good and definite click. The lens includes front and back dust caps, the former being one I added after I acquired the lens and the latter being included with the lens when I bought it. There is also a Tiffen #718 Series #7 filter adapter ring and a Tiffen Photar Sky 1-A Series #7 filter, both accompanying the lens when I bought it and appearing as if they were added to the lens by its original owner. All in all, this would make an excellent candidate for servicing. In its current somewhat flawed state, it is still functional. I am listing this lens as "for parts or not working" out of an abundance of caution. I will ship this lens with the lens hood detached from the lens so that the two don’t knock against each other in shipment.
