There is a greased bearing in the crankcase behind the stator mounting location, and the unused 6th hole is open to this cavity. With the stator installed correctly, the hole is blocked by the stator core, and grease from the bearing cannot escape. Using 5 mounting bolts instead of the original 6 WILL NOT cause any issues. Battery condition is extremely important. No stator can work correctly with a bad or weak battery. Always fully charge your battery before performing any charging system tests or replacing parts.
