It turns "on" and "off" with just a turn of the lever. Everything moves around easily and locks down tight wherever you want it to. The fine adjustment feature helps make setting up these tools a breeze. The Starrett dial indicator is also in excellent condition. It has a range of .500" and has a resolution of .001". The plunger moves in and out easily with no hesitations. It always returns to "0". Smoothly!! Everything will work perfectly for you! I guarantee it! This setup has a vertical reach of approximately 21 1/2" and a horizontal reach of about 11 1/2". These tools have their own red metal protective case. It has done a very good job of protecting these tools. It has some wear on it from doing its job. It opens easily, latches tightly shut, and holds everything securely.
