Description: For Sale is a Stanley No. 3 Smooth Plane. Type 16 produced from 1933 - 1941. Smooth Bottom. Stanley Notched Rectangle Trademark on the cutter which started in 1936, so that dates tis one to 1936 - 1941 Condition is very nice. 80 - 90% Black Japanning, nice patina to the cast iron surfaces, nice grain pattern to the handle and knob. All adjustments work and move freely. Very clean Smooth Plane This one being a type 16 features the Kidney shaped Levercap. The Stanley Notched Trademark on the cutter also features the Patent date. Cutters with the patent date are not rare but less common A nice example of the quality Stanley produced over 80 years ago. Still as useful today as it was the day it left the Factory.
