Loose cardboard backing (Like normal SPI's) See Pictures The Campaign of Napoleon in Russia: is a historical simulation of Napoleon's disastrous invasion of Russia. The 1812 package consists of two entirely different simulations of the costliest campaign of the Napoleonic Wars. Each game has its own full-siized three color mapsheet, rules, charts and counters representing the French and Russian corps, division and leaders. One game uses a hex-grid map to portray the grand tactical problems of Napoleonic combat and movement. The other uses a map divided into Russian provices and radically new movement and combat systems. Both games demonstrate how the armies stripped supply from the territory they marched through, how generals would sacrifice troop strength to gan an advantage through forced marching, how cavalry screened and scouted for the slower but more effectice infantry formations and how French and Russian leadership influenced the course of the campaign.
