Description: Condition Continued: Scrolling through them, I found only one page with a small, light spot. The aforementioned bump/crease to the rear top corner created a little, mild crease just below the tips of the last 25 or so pages (50 sides). I also saw eleven consecutive pages with a very light crease just off their top corners. There are no placeholder creases or turned-down corner creases in any of the pages. There are no markings in the book. There are no attachments of any kind. And Mr. Harriman's signed inscription represents the only writing to be found in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It has held up pretty nicely. There is crinkling at the top edge of the spine. There is a vertical crease near the middle edge of the front cover. I'm checking and not finding any tears. The flaps are clean. There is a crease below the top corner of the rear flap. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I removed the protective cover so I could better examine the dust jacket. I will replace it with a new protective cover after the photos are scanned. Random House, New York, 1975. Hardcover in Dust Jacket. Written by W. Averell Harriman and Elie Abel. ISBN: 0394482964.From the dust jacket: 'With this book, the last of the major participants in World War II strategy at the highest level finally tells his story. Here is Averell Harriman's accounts of the secret decisions affecting the course of the war, of the controversies that sprang from those decisions, and of his intimate discussions with Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin. This masterful narrative written by Elie Abel and based on Averell Harriman's personal recollections as well as his voluminous and revealing private papers, re-creates and explains the climate in which many of the most important strategic and political decisions were made during World War II, and casts new light on the motivations and personalities of the leaders who made them. Harriman was privy to Churchill's inner fears and hopes; his energetic investigations gave Roosevelt his first realistic insight into Britain's critical situation. Churchill himself sent Harriman to the Middle East a report on what it would take to defeat Rommel. His unique abilities led to his several missions to Stalin.Central chapters of Special Envoy deal with the important Big Three meetings: at Teheran, Yalta, then Potsdam-- landmark conferences whose decisions contributed to winning the war but whose broken agreements set the stage for the Cold War.'
