Description: Spartanburg, S.C. $10 National Currency banknote, Series of 1902, plain back, issued by The American National Bank, Charter number 6658. The banknotes issued by The American National Bank are scarcer than some of the other banks issuing notes in Spartanburg. This is a well circulated piece with the lower right corner missing a small piece. The piece shows old time folds running vertically and horizontally. There is a small wear through hole where these folds cross indicating it was carried a long time folded into thirds or quarters. When held up to the light, one is visible just to the right of McKinley's chin, one in the center just above the "P" in the town name, and one just at the end of the "OF" in the bank name.
