The box has the US embossed on the flap and is marked Rock Island Arsenal 1908 T.C.C. inspector initials on the rear. The box is used, please see photo's for Condition The leather is still soft and supple. Some wrinkling of the retention flap. There is a unit number on the retention flap. See photos. This box does have the wooden insert for the cartridges. These are often missing on examples of this cartridge box. See photo's for condition. This box is fitted for a drilled wooden block used to store 12 spare rounds of .38 caliber ammunition. See Scott Meadows book "US Military Holsters and Pistol Cartridge Boxes" page 402.
