Description: J.P. Morgan’s PERSONAL treasure!! I’ve never seen ANY coin pedigree to J.P. Morgan so to find a treasure piece with his name on it is soooo incredible!! It was purchased from King Farouk of Egypt!! Legendary numismatist Hans Schulman (b. 1913, d. 1990) organized the auction of this Spanish 8 reales coin which was sold at the Waldorf Astoria as marked on the original auction envelop this coin came in. The envelop includes the Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Egypt, along with the words “by appointment to his Majesty the King of Egypt.” King Farouk’s appetite for buying rare coins, coin collections, and antiquities of all kinds was insatiable!! Schulman was King Farouk’s top numismatist procuring millions of dollars worth of rarities and entire collections to the collector monarch. Shortly after this famous auction was held, Farouk was ousted in a military coup and escaped to Europe in exile. The next year, 1953, would see another great auction “The Palace collection of Egypt”, arranged for the provisional Egyptian government to help recoup the financial excesses of their former ruler, including the King’s coin collection. 1556-1598 SILVER SPAIN PHILIP II 8 REALES COINS FROM THE J.
