A very fine quality, massive piece in gilded brass and “cold” enamels, measures 37.2 mm in height, 35.9 mm in width. At the top is image of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor that was awarded to the museum for outstanding work on popularizing history of the space flight. There is a raised maker mark on the reverse. The badge was awarded on the occasion of the ceremony to a very limited number of people. Among them were probably the senior staff of the museum and possibly some of the visiting cosmonauts, scientists and other dignitaries. As clearly evident from the high quality of the badge and its rarity, it is certainly not one of the typical cheaply made souvenir pins one could buy at a kiosk. The badge is in EXCELLENT CONDITION and has fully functional pin attachment. An attractive piece of space flight history, this interesting badge can add nicely to any collection of space memorabilia.
