Description: Soviet Russian USSR WWII medal Order of the Badge of Honor #1398935 with document, awarded 1981 to Rimma Sukhacheva, the wife of Hero of the Soviet Union and "Shturmovik" pilot Vladimir Sukhachev! Features such as the document calligraphy strong indicate that the award was presented in the Kremlin. Sukhacheva trained as an engineer before WWII, and during the war was commissioned as an Engineer Captain. She likely met her husband while she was serving in the Red Army Air Force's meterological department. This particular Badge of Honor was awarded for "hydrometerological support of the economy" during the tenth Five-Year Plan. Vladimir Sukhachev was a highly awarded ground-attack pilot who earned the Hero of the Soviet Union and several orders for a total of 138 combat sorties during the Great Patriotic War. He continued to serve until 1984. The Sukhachev family’s celebration of Victory Day was described as follows in one memoir: “The Sukhachev family celebrated the anniversary of victory all together. Their son Yury, daughter Olga, and comrades from the Service came to congratulate Vladimir Pavlovich on the holiday. The welcoming lady of the house, Rimma Semyonovna, warmly greeted the guests. Soon, it became crowded in the spacious apartment on Moscow’s Komsomolsky Prospekt.
